Netflix new option of charging shared accounts

The streaming services giant Netflix is currently under the chaos of subscriber loss and struggling with it.

The contemporary circumstances of the world are troublesome and Netflix is also in the grasp of inflation, pandemic consequences, and war.

The company has stated before to set policies to regain the lost momentum for Netflix. Hence, the platform is getting higher to charge people for sharing accounts.

The idea appears to be constructive to make money.

According to the reports,

“Netflix would ask subscribers in 5 states in South and Central America to pay an additional $2.99 monthly to add a second home to their accounts. Moreover, the tough action on password membership will spread universally.”

Netflix users have been using the tactics of account sharing, and somehow this approach has affected the platform. The profound effects were shown when the giant fronted extreme subscribers’ loss.

Netflix does not need consumers to share accounts with different households.

Hence, charging for password sharing is a new manner of turning it into a feature. This will be an additional fee structure.

The feature is named add a home. It lets consumers buy additional homes with whom they desire to share their Netflix accounts.

For each home, there is a once-a-month fee above your fixed subscription fee. Nonetheless, that fee structure is $2.99, significantly below the charge of a complete Netflix subscription.

The feature furthermore has the option of watching Netflix on a tablet, laptop, or phone while traveling.

A new setting is arriving soon, giving users the ability to control where their account is being used, as well as remove additional homes at any time.

The feature will reportedly launch on August 22, 2022.

Also, there are some restrictions on the use of the feature. One account will only be allowed to add a firm number of extra homes. Basic accounts will be capable of adding one extra home, Standard accounts will acquire two, and Premium accounts will reach three.

The widespread account sharing between households undermines the ability long-term ability of Netflix to invest in and improve its services.

In the approaching time, Netflix will expectedly experiment with diverse policies globally.
