2024 Euros tournament. The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which Russia called a military operation, has engaged the states in numerous sanctions.
The trade is under sanctions, business and economy are under sanctions and now the Russian football team is fronting the sanctions.
Russia has been banned from competing in Euro 2024 as a consequence of its invasion of Ukraine, according to UEFA, which has confirmed the ban.
Since the conflict started in February, the country and its clubs have been banned from participating in UEFA and FIFA tournaments.
The Uefa executive council initially decided to ban Russian teams on February 28, 2022, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld that decision on July 15, 2022.
UEFA confirmed Russia would not be involved in the event after the Executive Committee met in Hvar, Croatia, and approved the procedure for the qualifying draw, which will take place on October 9 in Frankfurt. Germany will host Euro 2024.
Uefa stated in a statement,
“Russia is thus not included in the Uefa European Football Championship 2022-24 qualification draw.”
Along with being banned from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Russia was also banned from the tournament’s March qualification play-offs.
The nation’s club teams were barred from competing in the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League this year, while Uefa also terminated its sponsorship agreement with Russian energy giant Gazprom.
Originally scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg, the 2022 Champions League championship game was switched to Paris.
The petition of the Russian administration to include the team was also rejected.
